Ran Asakawa is a famous and extremely prolific Japanese model and AV idol. She made her debut in the adult entertainment field in 2001, shortly after quitting Junior College. After making more adult videos than any other AV idol in Japan within one year, she and her agency petitioned the Guinness World Records for inclusion in their book.

Ran Asakawa was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan on September 4, 1980. Her first sexual encounter happened when she was 19 and was with a Japanese salary man. She says that her first fully pleasurable experience wasn't until about the 10th time, however.

Asakawa finished high school and began junior college. When she realized that she couldn't make much money doing part time work she decided to start doing adult videos, and later explained, "I wanted to study to get a decent wage but I can't do that while I have a regular 9-5 job, right? So I picked AVs."

Asakawa and her modeling agency submitted an application to the Guinness Book of World Records for making 212 adult videos within the year of 2002, a number unprecedented in the 20-year history of the AV in Japan. In 2003 the Taipei Times reported that Asakawa had come to Taiwan with the hopes of expanding her career there.

Yua Aida

Yua Aida is a popular and award-winning Japanese model and AV idol.

Aida debuted in photo layouts in 2003, and made her AV debut in the January 2004 DVD release Pichi Pichi. A co-production of the KUKI and MAX-A labels, Pichi Pichi had Aida playing the role of a student writing a final paper for school on the subject of ecstasy. This concept allowed Aida to perform with a variety of AV actors.

Aida's second video, Your Yua Aida (February 2004) left the fictional narrative format to explore the documentary style common with Japanese adult videos. In her March release, Voyage, Aida played the role of a photographer who fantasizes about having sex with the male models she photographs.

Praudia (May 2004) had Aida in the role of a bar girl competing with other girls for the costomers' interest. The same month as this release, Aida starred in an "image" video for the Shuffle label. Featuring nude modeling without sex, the video was titled The Naked. Aida appeared in a similar DVD, Maximum, for Kuki in June, 2004. The 60 minutes of new "image video" modeling was padded with scenes from two of her previous releases. Also in June, Aida released Lesson 4, an AV for Kuki in which she plays a teacher in an all-male school.


Aida's next release, Curved Line Beauties (July 2004) was another "image" video, with the model appearing in various revealing clothing, and oiling herself. Sweat, released in August, focused on Aida's athletic abilities, and her tendency to perspire easily. Mountain biking was one of the forms of exercise featured in the video.

Aida appeared in MAX-A's Female Teacher Hunt series in September of 2004. In her entry in the series, Female Teacher Hunt in Yua Aida: Wet wet wet..., Aida played the coach of a male synchronized swimming team. When the team fails in a competition, they take turns raping Aida. She was again playing the part of a teacher in the October 2004 Kuki release Tell You.

By October of 2004 she was being called the Number One AV actress.

Aida's entry in MAX-A's Welcome to Max Cafe! series focused on cosplay. In this November 2004 release, she wore a cheerleader's costume, a wedding dress, a bunny, and in bondage.

In If..., Aida appeared in a variety of fantasy scenarios. Her character in the video changed situations whenever she opened a door. Among the roles she played in the video were a rape victim, a secretary and a stripper.

Aida appeared in Lusting Uniform Collection in April of 2005 with a variety of other AV idols, including Naho Ozawa and Sora Aoi. The video was described as, "for the people, by the people, of the people who love school uniforms!!" The same month, she released Endless, an AV that purported to dramatize an actual event from Aida's life. The video had Aida as the victim of a molester who ejaculated on her school uniform.

In addition to her original releases, Aida's videos were anthologized many times in such collections as Blur File, Premium BEST, and three Samantha collections. Within a year of her debut, she had appeared in over 30 videos. Along with Sora Aoi, she is the most popular figure of the S1 studio. On March 20, 2006 the Japanese AV industry recognized her career by awarding her the Japanese adult grand prix actress award for the year of 2005.

On July 12, 2007, Aida announced in her blog that she was retiring from appearances in AV, but plans to continue appearing in gravure and non-pornographic "Image" videos.
